The last chapter I'm doing. This current case is based on a real life incident that happened in December 2001. Maybe all the other arcs were based on real events as well, but I don't feel like investigating right now.

I had scripts for chapters 106 and 107 but they're very, very rough, and I know if I post them here and say "Please please check and revise these before editing," someone is going to edit them as-is regardless, so I deleted them. If someone picks Umishi up anyway, great. If not, oh well.

No Side translations: chapters 31-40

I translated chapters 31 to 40 of No Side several months ago. I've dropped the series now, but there's no need to let them go to waste, so I've uploaded them here. Do whatever you want with them, you don't need to ask or credit me.

The only caveat: these are very rough translations. There may be typos and missing lines as well. I know jack-all about rugby, so the terms might be wrong as well. It's not a problem for me because I do a lot of rewriting and correcting while I'm typesetting, but if you plan to use them for scanslating you might want to get a translator to look them over first.

Unfortunately I can't share the corresponding HQ scans because they're not mine to upload (and I deleted them all anyway). My apologies to Athanor for not being able to complete this project.

Umishi & No Side Dropped, blog shutting down

Wish I had some fancy excuse, but I just don't feel like scanslating any more. I'll keep the blog up for another month or two before closing it down. Chapter 105 of Umishi will be the last one.

Sorry, Umishi fans. Sorry, No Side fans. I wanted to finish at least Umishi before quitting, but I don't even have that much motivation left.

Maybe now that I've gotten off the pot, someone can pick those series up and finish them faster than I could have.

If you've been here long enough, you probably know I don't like Rin, I don't like Hiro and I don't like Maaya. But did you also know that I don't like Mr. Kasai either? At first he was okay as a slightly more competent bureacrat, but now everyone's all "O great Mr. Kasai, please sire my firstborn child and I'll be forever grateful, amen" and stuff, and it's really grating on me.

Still, things could be worse. I mean, at least that stupid Eye of Foresight thing hasn't shown up in a while, that's something.

As the scanslator I probably shouldn't admit this, but what with the long gap and all that's been going on, I'd totally forgotten where we were in Umishi. Working on this chapter was just one "Huh? We're still here? Why?" after another.

Anyway, real life drama is all over now, so look forward to faster releases unless something crops up again (fingers crossed).

Really, really busy

Apart from finishing up my dissertation I also have to move halfway across the world in a few weeks and find a job, so I really don't have time for scanslation right now.

Looking on the bright side, I should be largely free from mid-October onwards. I'll try and release at least one chapter this month, but any real progress will have to wait till then.
