Also did a bit of research (i.e. read Wikipedia) about waves, as it seems they're right about the factors that bring about huge waves:
- Wind speed (they're in a typhoon)
- Distance of open water that the wind has blown over, called the fetch
- Width of area affected by fetch
- Time duration the wind has blown over a given area (wind's been blowing for a while)
- Water depth (they're at a deep spot)
